FESTIVAL EVENTS
To celebrate our 10th Anniversary, we have a jam-packed experience planned with extra special events and screenings each day.
Wednesday kicks off with our Young Filmmakers’ Showcase, where we’ll see the results of WIF Nevada’s Young Filmmakers’ Workshop, a Community Learning Project we hosted this spring at Canyon Springs High School.
On Friday (and Saturday) we are delighted to welcome film festival expert, Crickett Rumley, for a Keynote Talk about making the most of your film festival run. Crickett is the founder and senior director of the Film Festival Department at the New York Film Academy and board member of the Film Festival Alliance.
Our 10th Anniversary bash heats up on Friday evening with our Nevada Women honorees alumni reunion panel: Women of the Decade! This lineup of Nevada superstars includes our 2024 Nevada Woman Filmmaker of the Year, Kari Barber, and will be moderated by UNLV Film Chair, Dr. Heather Addison.
Immediately following is our “Party of the Decade” at the Barrick Museum!
Saturday is another big day, including Kinetic Canvas, an interactive art exhibit with dancer, Dani Weitman. Immediately following we welcome the return of 2023 Vanguard honoree, Michelle Danner, for a sneak peek of her new film The Italians. The film’s all-star cast includes last year’s other Vanguard honoree, Abigail Breslin.
Also on Saturday, our much anticipated Animation Panel takes place, including Kamora Jones, Jo Meuris, James Parris, Zhang Jinghan and moderated by Jennifer Dean.
Our fest will culminate on Sunday with a champagne toast and appetizers followed by the 10th Annual Femmy Awards. The Femmys will kick off with an inaugural Spirit of Community Arts award presented to philanthropist Beverly Rogers for her contributions to the Nevada film community.
